MAYA (9)-2
A Mother’s love – Monique and baby Maya at their Newborn Photography Experience

January | I know that I have been quiet on here of late. It is a busy week here and I am really happy to be meeting all of the brand new babies that were born over the Christmas period. Yesterday, one of my clients told me about twins being born 30 minutes apart on separate days, years and decades – what a difference thirty minutes can make 😍

💝 Do you have a friend or know of someone that has had a little one that was born in this decade on New Year’s Day in Glasgow? Please share as we are looking for a new parent and their little one. Please message for further information.

Baby Callum – just days old here

Baby Caleb – just days old here with two butterflies that his mummy and daddy brought along to their Newborn Photography Experience at Laura Joy Photography.

‘Experiencing two miscarriages we were especially keen to capture Caleb within the first week of his life to treasure these special moments and we agreed it would be a good idea for our two butterflies to lay beside Caleb as they are his elder siblings and we feel it brought them all closer together. People used to tell us at the time of the miscarriages that it was the world telling us it wasn’t the right time or they were preparing the womb for the next baby. We are forever grateful for our babies and feel so thankful and blessed Caleb is here and healthy because of them. We will treasure this picture forever and not a day goes by that we don’t think about them and who they would of been.’ Gemma 🌸

Gemma Ramsay (December, 2019) said the following about their Newborn Photography Experience:
You were so patient with Caleb when he was so unsettled, you knew exactly how to soothe him and helped him feel at ease. Kevin and I was made so welcome and we also felt at ease. We are so thankful for the precious images you captured and will treasure them for ever. You also worked around us and let us choose when it was convenient to come and look at the images rather than setting a date and time for us which could of been inconvenient. Thank you again so much!x

Update/News…

My Post (28).png
December 2019

Laura Joy Photography | I just thought I’d say hi and tell you a bit about what we have been up to recently. Why? Well, I can’t always post on social media and so I thought I would give you this instead. As the end of the year is fast aproaching, I went on a few courses and signed up to things to get myself completely out of my comfort zone. I wanted to learn new skills, think about things from a different perspective and that is what I have done and will continue to do.

Firstly, I have joined a camera club – I didn’t really know what this was until I stumbled upon Queens Park Camera Club at a Doors Open Day in 2018. After chatting to the club members I thought I would apply…it has taken over a year to gain admission and I know it will be worth the wait. Working for yourself and by yourself needs a bit of company along the way, so I am looking forward to being a part of the club and learning lots more. If any of you would like to find out more, please drop me a message below.

I recently took to the streets of Glasgow to do a Street Photography Course with Leanne Boulton – this most definitely took me out of my comfort zone. I definitely noticed myself looking at people more (when out in the city) and really being aware of my surroundings. Rather than just focusing on where I needed to be and worrying about time. I ended up walking up to random strangers in the city and asked if I could take their picture. I am not really sure how I feel about this genre but I am going to incorporate some of the things I learnt into my Family Photography Sessions and have some bookings for early next year. If you see me out and about in Glasgow, please come and say hello. I will share some pictures soon on my social media pages (from the course).

Capturing Personality was another course I have recently done with Jeff Gilmour, a Glasgow based photographer. I attended the event at Wex in Glasgow and met lots of other local photographers which was really interesting too. It was great to see how others work and see how they think. One of the things I got from this – is how you think about your subject.  As in really think about them, when I capture tiny humans under ten days old, even though that little person has only been on planet earth for ten days you get a lot back, what the camera can not and does not see. So next time you are looking at a picture of your baby, a family member, just take five seconds and think. What do you associate with the picture, how the person was feeling that day, a life changing event, an emotion.

I did a Family Session yesterday and I have two more Newborn Bookings this week and then I am off for Christmas. If you would like to enquire about booking in 2020 OR ask anything. Please drop me a message below.

I hope that you have a fab festive period and most of all that you enjoy it.

Thanks for reading.
